Description
HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS: Join Automotive, Aviation, and Public Safety staff and faculty for a day filled with hands-on program exploration! Sign-up and choose your Exploring Academics Sessions by clicking "Register" above. Session descriptions are as follows:
Dummy Drag with Fire Science: Come experience what it takes to rescue someone from a fire. Test your strength in a dummy drag and see firsthand the challenge of moving a person who cannot move on their own.
Police Simulator with Criminal Justice: Step into the role of a police officer and experience the challenge of making quick decisions in a safe, realistic shooting simulator. Test your reactions, practice good judgement, and see what it's like to handle high pressure-situations.
Saving a Life with EMS: Learn what it's like to be a first responder! Try hands-on activities and discover how EMS professionals act quickly to help people in emergencies. CONTENT NOTE: A controlled bleeding demo will take place in this session.
Take Flight into Aviation: Take flight into aviation at Aims Community College, flying multi-engine simulators and directing traffic in the Air Traffic Control Tower Lab. See how Aims' Professional Pilot or Air Traffic Control degrees can launch your aviation career and take you to new heights!
World of Drones with UAS: Step into the world of drones! Get a behind-the-scenes tour of the Aims UAS Labs, try out cutting-edge Skydio X10 sensor technology, and film drones used to capture aerial movie shots. Think you've got what it takes? Try out the UAS RC simulators, then wrap up by discovering how you can turn your passion for drones into a career with the Aims UAS Associate Degree.
Aviation Maintenance Technician Exploration: Get ready to explore the exciting world of aviation as you train to become an Aviation Maintenance Technician in the brand-new program at Aims Community College! Discover how you can become an FAA-certified Aircraft Technician. You'll experience the future of learning through cutting-edge VR/AR technology that will put you right in the middle of the action, testing out skills like painting, welding, and sandblasting!
Exploring Nurse Aide, Med Prep, and Beyond: Are you interested in starting a healthcare career? Watch current Med Prep students demonstrate life-saving skills, then ask them questions about their experiences in the programs and plans beyond graduation.
Rocket Launch!: Students will dive into the excitement of hands-on engineering as they build their own rocket launch controller, mastering the basics of electrical circuits—then watch their success take flight as a rocket blasts into the sky!
Pit Crew Challenge: In the Pit Crew Challenge, students will step into the fast-paced world of racing as they use an air impact tool to change and rotate tires, racing against the clock just like a real pit crew!
Welding and Painting with SimSpray: Students will step into the world of virtual reality to experience the skills of welding and automotive painting in an immersive, hands-on way
From Dent to Done- Automotive Dent Repair: Students will jump into the world of auto body repair as they take on the challenge of fixing a dented panel, transforming damaged metal back to a smooth, polished finish

Yes! Pre-registration is required- walk-ins are not permitted for this event.
Students and school chaperones (teachers, admin, counselors) are welcome to attend all aspects of the event, including Exploring Academics Sessions. We unfortunately do not have enough space to accommodate attendance of parents/other support people throughout the duration of the event; however, support people are more than welcome to attend the Welcome Ceremony, Resource Fair, and Closing Ceremony!
