HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS: Join Automotive, Aviation, and Public Safety staff and faculty for a day filled with hands-on program exploration! Sign-up and choose your Exploring Academics Sessions by clicking "Register" above.
Session descriptions are as follows:
Flight/ATC - Take Flight with Aims
Take flight into aviation at Aims Community College, flying multi-engine simulators and directing traffic in the Air Traffic Control Tower Lab. This hands-on experience offers a thrilling glimpse into both careers. See how Aims’ Professional Pilot or Air Traffic Control degrees can launch your aviation career and take you to new heights. This session will include time in both the tower lab for a presentation and time flying the simulators.
UAS - World of Drones
Step into the world of drones! Get a behind-the-scenes tour of the Aims UAS Labs, try out cutting-edge Skydio X10 sensor technology, and film drones used to capture aerial movie shots. Think you’ve got what it takes? Put your reflexes to the test with UAS RC simulators, then wrap up by discovering how you can turn your passion for drones into a career with the Aims UAS Associate Degree and the exciting path to becoming a UAS aviation professional.
AMT - Aviation Maintenance Technician Exploration
Get ready to explore the exciting world of aviation as you train to become an Aviation Maintenance Technician in the brand-new program at Aims Community College! Discover how you could become an FAA-certified Aircraft Technician. You’ll experience the future of learning through cutting-edge VR/AR technology that will put you right in the middle of the action, trying out skills like painting, welding, and sandblasting!
EMS - Stop the Bleed
A crash course on the critical equipment and field-tested techniques used by emergency medical responders to rapidly control severe, life-threatening bleeding and save lives when every second counts.
Automotive - Under the Hood: Automotive & Collision Experience
Explore Automotive Service and Collision Repair through hands-on practice with real tools and cutting-edge tech. Students will learn engine basics, build electrical circuits, repair hood dents, and practice vehicle refinishing using SimSpray virtual reality. No prior experience is required, just a desire to build mechanical, electrical, and technical problem-solving skills for today’s automotive careers.
PSI - Sim Shooter
Sim Shooter offers a simulated shooting experience designed to sharpen hand-eye coordination and split-second decision-making. Students gain practical, firsthand insight into the field of law enforcement and its critical skill sets.
PSI - Fire Academy Training
Experience the life of a firefighter firsthand through hands-on training and practical skill-building. Students will participate in Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) challenges to evaluate their physical abilities and explore careers in the fire service.

- Do I have to register to attend?
Yes! Pre-registration is required. Walk-ins are not permitted for this event.
- Can parents/other support people attend?
Students and school chaperones (teachers, admin, counselors) are welcome to attend all aspects of the event, including Exploring Academic Sessions. We unfortunately do not have enough space to accommodate attendance of parents/other support people throughout the duration of the event.
- Do I have to attend with a school?
No! Check with your school counselor to ensure transportation is not already arranged for your school. If your school is not busing students but you would like to attend, please follow school protocol for absences before attending.
- Is lunch provided?
Yes! Boxed lunches with sandwiches will be provided. Please indicate any dietary needs on your registration form.
- Is parking available for students who drive themselves?
Yes, parking is available (free) for students who drive themselves.
- What should students bring?
Students don’t need to bring anything with them. All materials and resources will be provided at the event, so they can simply show up ready to explore, ask questions, and get a feel for what it’s like to be a student at Aims!
- Is the event accessible for students with mobility needs?
Aims is an accessible campus designed to support students with mobility needs. Buildings, pathways, and learning spaces are equipped to ensure comfortable, independent access so every student can fully participate in campus life and events.
